Garlic Chocolate Chip Cookies

10 cloves garlic
½ cup maple syrup
1 cup softened butter
¾ cup brown sugar
¾ cup sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 ½ cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
½ tsp salt
2 ¼ cups chocolate chips
½ cup chopped nuts

1. Bring a medium pot of water to a boil. Add the garlic cloves. Boil for 5 minutes until tender. Drain. Peel and chop or press. In a bowl, combine garlic and maple syrup. Let marinate for 20 minutes.
2. In a mixer bowl, cream together butter and sugars until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time. Add vanilla.
3. In a bowl, combine flour, baking soda and salt. Add to creamed mixture. Blend well. Drop onto a parchment lined baking sheet. Bake in a preheated 325°F oven for 8 – 10 minutes until lightly browned.
Makes 30 cookies.
